Long Thanh Departures: Is Paid Assistance Worth It Yet?
Few international flights are reported for Long Thanh's first months, and no provider price list covers the airport. What is reported and when help adds little.
The short answer
Paying for departure help at Long Thanh cannot yet rest on a price, a provider or an observed queue. The records of the 15 fast track providers tracked, re-read on 16 October 2026, contain no Long Thanh line, and the airport has carried no regular commercial passengers. What exists is a set of plans for the opening months, and they describe small traffic.
Three things are kept apart below: what ACV is quoted as saying, what has been observed (nothing yet) and the author’s inference. For the walk through check-in, security and passport control, see departing from Long Thanh. This page asks only whether an escort through that walk is worth paying for.
What ACV is quoted as saying
Everything here comes from state media quoting the airport company ACV, or from a secondary summary, read on 16 October 2026. None of it sits on an ACV page.
- Start. Commercial operation is expected on 24 December 2026, partial. Earlier pages on this site cite a proposed 1 December; the statement read on 12 October replaces it (see the opening timeline).
- Volume. About 20 to 30 flights a day from December 2026 to March 2027. The weekly ceiling is 366 flights: 322 domestic, 44 international.
- Building. West wing and central area first, with 4 check-in islands serving domestic and international flights alike.
- International routes named. Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangzhou and Manila, from Vietnam Airlines. Intercontinental flights are planned to move from 28 March 2027 and the rest by 25 March 2028, under a plan agreed while 1 December was still the opening date; no official revision was seen. Earlier versions put those flights first, as the round-up of older versions shows.
- Self-service. ACV claims biometric steps from check-in and self bag drop through immigration. A working session with the immigration department named biometric ID and automated immigration a priority for this phase.
- Shops and lounges. A media expectation, not an ACV statement: duty free, lounges and some ground transport counters may not be fully open at first.
What no source provides
- A Long Thanh price, service description or booking term from any tracked provider.
- A queue time, peak hour or departure-hall observation.
- Confirmation that the biometric steps will run on the first day.
One cost is not assistance. A Ministry of Construction decision sets the international passenger service charge here at USD 25 per passenger, excluding VAT, for tickets sold from 1 October 2026 (domestic VND 90,909). This comes from news coverage; the decision text was not read. The ministry sets it; no escort provider does.
When help adds little and when the question reopens
The right-hand column is inference, not observation.
| Situation | What is known | Assistance |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket does not show LTH | Nothing here applies | Look at offers for the airport on the ticket |
| Flight before 24 December 2026 | No commercial service yet | Nothing to buy |
| International flight, December to March, cabin bag only, boarding pass in hand | At most 44 international flights a week, named routes all in Asia | Adds little: fewer departures should compete for the same counters than at the large airports |
| Several bags, a group or a child, same months | Four check-in islands shared with domestic flights | Worth asking about, from a provider that writes Long Thanh into the quote |
| Long-haul after 28 March 2027 | Planned move, no official revision | Reopen the question once airlines confirm routes |
Vietnam Airlines states that its wheelchair service is free, requested through its sales offices or contact center. That need is settled with the carrier, not with an escort service.
Before accepting a Long Thanh quote
- Does it name Long Thanh, the terminal and the date?
- Which steps are covered: check-in, security, passport control? At other airports some lists sell these as separate lines.
- What happens if the airline moves the flight to Tan Son Nhat?
- Is the refund rule in writing?
An escort moves you through the normal process; passport control stays between you and the officer.
